- Google offers repairs or payment for pixel 7A users assigned by a serious battery problem
- Some pixel 7A users have reported swelling of the battery serious enough to deform the chassis of the phone
- Eligibility depends on the region and the warranty status
Google has intensified to remedy a major battery swelling problem with certain Pixel 7A smartphones, which means that affected users can now claim free repair or partial refund.
As part of the extended repair program for Pixel 7A, users can request directly or refund the repair of Google.
Recent reports have highlighted the problem of battery extension, which Google describes as including “visible swelling of the device”, the “curved phone cover or separating from the device”, or the battery “draining considerably more quickly than usual”.
As we have already covered, the inflated batteries have a danger to health and the house, as they can be a risk of unpredictable fire if they are unattended – be sure to consult our guide on how to have a swollen telephone battery for more information.
As 9TO5GOOGLE reports, Google offers repairs without appointments in the centers of the following countries:
- WE
- UNITED KINGDOM
- India
- Germany
- Japan
- Singapore
In addition, Google provides a postal repair service in the United States and India only.
Google also offers partial reimbursements to users concerned by Pixels 7A, depending on the coverage of the territory and the warranty: none of the following options are available in the United States or India.
In other territories, those which are still covered by the guarantee of their pixel 7a can claim $ 456 from Google – it is in cash, not credit.
And users of these territories which are outside the guarantee period of their pixel 7A can claim $ 300 to another pixel phone, or $ 200 in cash.
It should be noted that if your Pixel 7a handset has other forms of damage, such as exposure to sharp objects, liquid damage or damage caused by excessive force, Google can refuse to replace the battery.
The official page of the extended repair program also notes that Google can charge additional costs if the phone has damage outside the warranty like a cracked screen – which, in our view, is because screens must generally be deleted to access the internal components of a smartphone.
The type of repair program that Google is running is not unknown – some can even call it expected with a problem as serious as battery inflation – but it’s always good to see Google do the right thing here.
