- Circle to Search could add a new feature focused on mobile games
- Getting help with the game would search the internet for tips and tricks based on a screenshot of the game
- No word yet on when the feature might launch
Google’s AI-powered Circle to Search tool could soon bring a new level of utility to mobile gamers, if a feature found in previously unreleased code is to be believed.
Android Authority took a peek behind the curtain at some unreleased Android code for an APK teardown, in which a new chip (read: button) for Circle to Search was found.
Titled “Get Game Help,” the feature as currently designed takes a screenshot of the game in progress and uses it as context to perform a Google search and access tips and tricks for the player.
This Google search doesn’t appear to be particularly targeted, returning results from a variety of platforms and websites. So perhaps it’s more of a shortcut than a whole new way to access support.
Additionally, Google may have trouble knowing what game you’re playing or at what point in said game you’re specifically blocked, prompting users to narrow down the search by manually noting the game and level.
Of course, we can’t say for sure whether Get Game Help will receive further tweaks to improve its accuracy and efficiency before the feature launches to users, but it seems likely given its current state.
This feature doesn’t seem to be able to differentiate between games and other apps yet, as the Get Game Help button seems to appear every time Circle to Search is enabled.
Google pushed Circle to look hard in late 2024 and early 2025 – it wasn’t until September 2024 that the feature started appearing on phones outside of the Google and Samsung ecosystems.
Throughout 2024, Google has implemented a series of improvements to what has become one of its most notable technologies, like Shazam-style song recognition, but this is the first time that we see a solution focused entirely on mobile games.
