- Apple will soon end the care of its old Homekit architecture
- A note on the change was spotted in the source code beta iOS 18.4
- After upgrading, you will no longer be able to use an iPad as an original center
It seems that Apple will soon force all users to go to the last Homekit architecture – which is bad news if you are currently using an iPad as a center of origin.
The source code of the third beta version of iOS 18.4, which was published by developers earlier this week and seen by 9TO5GOOGLE, contains a string warning for users that the care of the old version of Apple Home will end soon and that they should go to the new architecture now “to avoid interruptions” to their intelligent house devices.
The new Homekit architecture is intended to be faster, more efficient and more reliable, but so far, it has been voluntary. In fact, some users have deliberately delayed as long as possible, because after upgrading, they will no longer be able to use an iPad as a center of origin to control their intelligent home devices.
The house is the place where the hub is
The reactions to the news have been mixed, some users of the subcontract of Homekit expressing a shock that anyone who would have retained the upgrading of this long, while others are frustrated by the prospect of having to change equipment.
R / HomeKit comment
If you are currently using an iPad like HUB HomeKit, do not panic – you can already have another device that you can use instead. Apple HomePod speakers will work as hubs for your intelligent domestic system, just like an Apple TV. You can see the Apple guide to set up an original center here for more details.
You will probably also have time to plan your next move. IOS 18.4 is currently in beta version and is expected to be deployed next month.
However, it seems likely that the upgrade of Homekit will only become compulsory at the launch of iOS 19, which should arrive in November, as well as the Homepod Hub of the rumor – which could be an ideal iPad alternative for use around the house.
