Dandadan Season 2 made his return triumphant to Netflix in early July and has since published three episodes to his credit. Until now, we have seen Jiji become possessed, a giant death worker threatening to trap people and Momo escaping death. Episode 3 ended with an imminent volcanic eruption in the seaside resort and we will be able to see what will then happen in episode 4, which should be broadcast later this week (July 25).
Instead of breaking the successful Netflix anime after its explosive season 1, this is a case so far, so much better with regard to Dandadan Season 2. The action sequences are more dynamic, the tension has been increased even more through fatal issues, and there is enough translation and background to never know if you go or go. We could put this in the incredible narration and crafts that we knew that we should expect from season 1, but that’s it?
It turns out not. The more I look Dandadan Season 2, the more he has the impression that there was a change on which I cannot put my finger. To my surprise, I am actually on something, with the creators of the show confirming as much – about the change that has been in front of us all the time – to anime Expo 2025.
The creators of Dandadan Season 2 deliberately changed the colors to make the scenes more exciting
To watch
According to the director of the Fuga Yamashiro series, the change in Dandadan Season 2 is due to a change in the show’s color palette to highlight the key moments in which the team was lacking in the origin of colors to use. “At the beginning, I thought I could continue with the use of Dandadan of the pallets of changing colors,” he explained (via screening). “However, I quickly encountered a problem because the public tends to interpret the colors very literally. For example, which I consider as a subtle difference between pink and red can seem identical to someone who looks at home. I started to run out of colors to differentiate the characters and thematic scenes.”
He continued: “So, rather than simply playing with color, I introduced different visual textures to Dandadan. This season, you will notice that some cuts have more rough finishes resembling oil paintings for example rather than watercolor. This change gives scenes a completely different impression because of its texture rather than its shade. It was my great experience this season.
As far as I’m concerned, it is a great experience that is paid. It is difficult to tear your eyes from the screen as it is, but the additional elevator in the most dynamic moments of the show makes it almost impossible. If anything, it is strange that there is a feeling of uncertainty of the creative team on the screen, Dandadan Feels more certain of his own size than ever.
We still have eight episodes of season 2, and absolutely everything can be played during this space of time. There are things that we can take a logical supposition will occur in all their newly found brilliant glory (like the evil eye continuing to haunt jiji), but the arches of original manga can only tell us as much. Our best supposition is that season 2 will end with space globalists, while Kaiju continues to threaten the search for the second golden sphere in the meantime. Whatever happens, more screen time for Turbo Granny, please.
