Dolly Parton’s late husband, Carl Dean, was “sick for a while” before his death in March.
THE Jolate The singer, 79, spoke with The independent On the way she was held following the loss in a recent interview.
“I really feel his presence. I’m just trying to continue, because I know I have to do it,” said Parton, 79 years old, on the publication.
“And he was sick for a while, and part of me was at peace that he was in peace and no longer suffered. But that still does not compensate for the loss and loneliness of it.”
The Grammys winner was also frank on her religious beliefs which help her remain strong.
“I am a person of faith, and I really think I will see him again one day.”
“And I see it every day in my memories and in my heart, and in all the things we did and all that we built together,” continued Parton. “You just have to learn to make new plans, but this is the most difficult part.”
Parton added that she invests her energy in “other things” to “keep him always present in everything I do”.
Parton and Dean met in 1964 in Nashville, where she moved to pursue a career in music.
