Dolly Parton is trying desperately to appear optimistic.
However, insiders revealed that the country legend was in big trouble following the death of her husband Carl Dean.
According to RadarOnline.comSince Dean’s death in March this year, Parton has thrown herself into work, which is starting to take a toll on her health.
“Dolly just won’t stop and has barely caught her breath since Carl passed away,” a source said.
“Just a few days after her death, she made an appearance at Dollywood to celebrate the park’s 40th anniversary, and she’s been doing it ever since.”
The source added that Parton’s non-stop work ethic could be her way out of this.
“She didn’t break any of her commitments, at least not until she got sick,” they added.
Her friends are said to be worried that the 79-year-old singer’s grief is catching up with her.
“She’s trying to stay strong, but everyone can see she’s exhausted. Working all the time doesn’t cure her pain, it masks it,” the source explained before moving on to a new topic.
