- Origin Code will demonstrate its new Vortex DDR5 memory at CES 2026
- This RAM features a triple-fan cooling solution (which is removable)
- This active fan cooling promises to deliver 40% better performance than passive cooling, but given the RAM crisis, expect this memory to be very expensive.
Origin Code is a lesser-known RAM brand that offers a rather new version of DDR5 RAM modules that the company plans to debut at CES 2026.
We’ve already heard about Origin Code’s Vortex DDR5 memory, but the manufacturer will be showing off the RAM at CES in January, as VideoCardz reports – and the unique touch here is that the memory has a three-fan cooling system.
We can expect demos focused on “sustained overclocking” in real-world workloads, showing what Vortex DDR5 can do.
Active cooling for this memory is a three-fan unit that mounts above the RAM modules and is removable. Available kits start from 2 x 16 GB modules (32 GB total), going up to quad configurations such as 4 x 48 GB (for a total of 192 GB).
We might also get pricing details for Origin Code at CES 2026, and needless to say, given the current RAM pricing crisis, which has reached a ridiculous level at a breakneck pace, this could come as a shock.
Analysis: Honey, I reduced the graphics card fans
As for that price, this is a fancy, high-end RAM – which is already getting stupidly expensive, as noted – with an innovative custom active cooling system to boot, so there’s no telling how high the cost could be. Naturally expect something mind-blowing.
Is a cooling system like this even necessary for system memory? Okay, obviously that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but it might be useful for enthusiasts, who may be the target audience.
Origin Code is clearly confident that this will make a difference for high-end PC builds, given that the company is going to present a comparison of active and passive cooling to demonstrate the effectiveness of the former. The marketing pitch is that the fans provide a 40% improvement in cooling performance, likely over passive cooling when the fan is removed.
And I have to admit: making your RAM look like a little graphics card, nestled in the middle of your motherboard with those three fans atop the modules, is pretty cool in terms of pure visual appeal. But yes, this price will definitely be something to see (if we see prices).
Although you can look at this product from another perspective in terms of cost, which is that a few months ago a cooling add-on like this would have significantly increased the price of DDR5 modules.
Whereas now the RAM sticks themselves are going to be so expensive that the triple fan isn’t going to mean that much of an increase in percentage terms over the total cost of Vortex memory. This innovation therefore makes sense in the contemporary market, in a strange way.
