If your Roku TV home screen seems to have been redesigned overnight, don’t worry: it simply means that you are one of the few elected officials who can see what could be the next evolution of the Roku TV interface.
As Verge reports, Roku tests a happy version of the home page with a small number of Roku users in order to assess whether they like it or not. The company “tries different approaches” of the functionality of the home page, said Preston Smalley from Roku. “We are definitely trying to see how control people want, but that’s something we want to hear customers.”
What changes in the Roku TV home screen
Although this is just a test, it indicates the most likely changes to come on your home page in the not too distant future. The first thing you will notice is that the home button on your remote control takes you directly into the main grid rather than in the sidebar, where it takes you to the current version.
Live and free show television were moved from the sidebar in the main grid to make them more obvious; Roku says that these “convincing and delicious destinations” were not used by many people, and they expect more important placement that more people are forced and delighted.
The quick access section is designed to facilitate seeing your favorite applications, but for the moment it is automated: the penis says you cannot manually delete the applications or add different.
Under the quick access, there is “the best in your streaming services” which is the new house for live and featured television of free options as well as subscriptions and for you, what awaits you is the place where you will find personalized recommendations.
This is really a work in progress, so if you have it on your Roku TV, it can change again during the test phase – and if you are one of the few chosen, it is not compulsory, you can therefore withdraw from the test if you prefer to wait for the final final version.
