He stressed that “cashmere is an internationally recognized dispute, and its future cannot be determined by internal legislation or court decisions”.

The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his concerns about media relationships suggesting that the Indian authorities are trying to “grant Jammu a state of state while keeping the cashmere valley as a union territory,” calling such movements “unacceptable and provocative”.

Reiterating the position of Pakistan, Dar said that “Pakistan believes in peaceful coexistence, but its commitment to peace should not be confused with weakness”. He added: “Islamabad wants friendly relations with all neighboring countries and prefers dialogue and diplomacy on confrontation.”

However, he warned that “the Armed Forces of Pakistan and his people are fully able to provide a resolute response to any act of aggression, as shown by Marka-E-Haq and Operation Bunyanum-Marsoos”.
