With the adoption of the AI increasing quickly, the hyperscal data centers become essential to support the workloads of the advanced AI tools, including those which feed the AI writing platforms.
During the recent week of Dubai AI, the telecommunications supplier based on Microsoft and the United Arab Emirates announced its intention to build a hyperscal center of $ 544.54 million to water.
“This marks a significant investment in digital infrastructure, strengthening Dubai leadership in the adoption of the latest technologies, innovations and digital services,” said Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, in a link after the announcement.
Reinforcement of water infrastructure AI
The new data center will be a central element of Microsoft’s continuous effort to extend its cloud and AI infrastructure in the Middle East. He follows previous collaborations, including a partnership with the Abu Dhabi and Core42 government to provide AI services and sovereign cloud capacities within water.
The CEO of Fahad Al Hassawi noted that the investment is: “A central jump in our strategic goal to revolutionize the digital water ecosystem”.
The center’s capacity will be delivered to Microsoft in phases, although specific time and technical details have not yet been disclosed.
Currently operating five data centers across the water, and earlier in 2025, signed an agreement to extend the Peace Submarine Cable to the country.
Microsoft has regularly expanded its cloud presence in the Middle East since its launch of its cloud of water in 2019. The company has since announced similar regions in Qatar, Israel and Saudi Arabia, with additional plans for a new cloud region in Kuwait.
The new water-based hyperscal data center will help meet the growing demand for low latency to cloud platforms that feed everything, from the best web hosting services to new generation business applications.
