“Each Pakistanain wants to defend holy cities”

Karachi:

PPP president Bilawal Bhutto Zardari described the defense agreement with Saudi Arabia on Friday as a positive step for Pakistan, saying that all Pakistanis wanted to protect Mecca and Madina.

Speaking to the media after visiting the largest sewage plant in Karachi, Bilawal said that there was continuous coordination between provincial and federal governments. He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had made commitments concerning Karachi, which would be implemented.

The president of the PPP said that the Pakistani defense agreement of Saudi Arabia, which was signed on Wednesday, was beneficial for the two countries. “The agreement concluded with Saudi Arabia is positive for Pakistan. Each Pakistanis wants to defend Mecca and Madina,” he said.

Asked about the behavior of the Indian Cricket team in a Asian Cup match against Pakistan last Sunday, Bilawal criticized India for leaving the policy in the cricket. He added that Pakistan had recently defeated India at war.

Commenting on speculation on political changes in the Sindh, he pointed out that such reports had been generated by the media itself. “You direct the stories and then ask me the questions,” he told journalists.

Bilawal also referred to the recent visit by President Asif Ali Zardari in China, saying that the president represented the whole country and was warmly received. He said development problems such as Sindh solid waste management had been discussed during the visit.

On the current floods, Bilawal said that politics should not be played on natural disasters. “When calamities strike, calls are made to the world. The United Nations must be approached, but the federal government has not yet called upon the UN,” he said.

He warned that flooding health problems were still emerging and stressed that the Prime Minister should request international aid. He asked that the victims be supported by the BISP.
