A date was officially fixed for the visit of the White House of the Eagles of Philadelphia with President Donald Trump to celebrate their Super Bowl victory last month.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Tuesday that the team will visit on April 28.
Leavitt also took a hit in reports on the question of whether an invitation would be sent after what happened in 2018.
As 45th President of the United States at the time, Trump canceled his invitation to the Eagles after their Super Bowl victory against the Patriots after some players said they would not assist.

This time, Trump admitted that he wanted to bring the Eagles to the national capital to celebrate, and that’s exactly what will happen.
“I know that there were many false news on an invitation that was not sent or was sent. We want to correct the file: we sent an invitation. They have enthusiastically accepted, and you will see them here on April 28,” said Leavitt during his daily briefing of the White House on Tuesday.

Trump was present at the Superdome Caesars in New Orleans on February 9 to see the Eagles dominate the Chiefs of Kansas City, 40-22. He also noted last month that he wanted the Eagles to visit the White House.
“We haven’t done it yet, but we will be,” said Trump about sending an invitation. “I thought it was a great performance on their part. Absolutely, they will be extended an invitation. We will do it right away. We will do it a little time today. They deserve to be here, and we hope to see them.”

Captain of Eagles, Lane Johnson, said that a visit to the White House would be a “team decision” after winning the Super Bowl.
Johnson, who passed his 12 NFL seasons with the franchise, was part of the team when she won the very first Vince Lombardi trophy in the organization in 2018, defeating the New England Patriots.
However, the controversy followed that year when Trump canceled his invitation to the Eagles after some players said that they would not visit the White House due to the criticism of the 45th president with regard to those who knelt or raised their fists during the national anthem to protest against racial injustice and police brutality.
Trump published a statement at the time on the cancellation of his invitation, saying that “the 1,000 fans who plan to attend the event deserve better”.

“They do not agree with their president because he insists on the fact that they proudly represent the national anthem, the hand in the soul, in honor of the great men and women of our soldiers and the people of our country,” said Trump’s declaration seven years ago.
