- The early reference of Rog Xbox Ally X indicates forces in terms of efficiency and cooling
- The game at 18W TDP with frame generation gives high images in Doom: dark ages with low temperatures
- The price is still not confirmed before its launch of October 16
The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X launch is not too far, with portable landing on October 16 to challenge the best portable game PCs on the market. However, the first references gave us an overview of what we should expect in terms of performance – and I am not yet convinced.
AS Highlighted by Windows Report, The Rog Xbox Ally X Excels at Power Efficiency and Cooling, Based On Early Benchmarks by Cary Golomb on X. AT 18W TDP (Thermal Power Design OR, Essentially, Power Consumption) with FSR UPSCALING, Ray Tracing, it hit 70fps in intensive sequences in Doom: dark ages.

However, without using the framework generation in this early reference, the image frequency would probably be between 35 and 40FPS, which is not much better than you would get with the predecessor of Z2 Extreme, the extreme Z1.
It is not clear if the Extreme Ryzen AI Z2 processor used in the Rog Xbox ally will show significant performance differences compared to the extreme standard Z2. One thing that is clear for me (on the basis of the first windows), however, is that this pocket computer is not impressive enough to justify a high price.
Analysis: a minor improvement compared to the extreme Ryzen Z1 is not worth the cost
Now, I must reiterate that the price of the Rog Xbox Ally X is not confirmed and should be announced later in September once the pre -orders are available. However, all signs of rumors and leaks indicate that the device costs € 899 – which would work at around $ 1,050 (around £ 775 / $ 1,600 in) or potentially more. If this is the case, then its future success could be in balance.
It should be noted that the Rog Xbox ally will be the cheaper and less powerful alternative, which will cost € 599 (which should cost around $ 700, or about £ 520 /1070 in), but its Ryzen Z2A with Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
On the basis of benchmarks between the Ryzen Z2 Extreme and the Ryzen Z1 Extreme, the performance jump does not seem to be significant enough to justify a payment of $ 1,000; the original Asus Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go Go Goldes can be found much cheaper for sale.
As I have already said, I have my eye on the Lenovo Legion Go using the Z1 Extreme, because it is the only reasonable upgrade for me with 32 GB of RAM and an 8 -inch screen. Any other pocket computer is too high, and unfortunately, it seems that the Rog Xbox Ally X also joins this list.
