Rawalpindi:
Bus stands and stations in twin cities have become extremely crowded while non -resident workers leave to spend a holiday at Eid with their loved ones in their hometown.
The exodus led to a massive crowd in the transport poles, in particular Rawalpindi station, the general bus stand PIR Wadhai and other smaller and larger transport terminals. The carriers took advantage of the situation by considerably increasing the prices, resulting in litigation and altercations with the passengers throughout the day.
Surprisingly, no special Eid trains operates with Rawalpindi this year, and there are no 20% reduced prices as in the past. The passengers were informed that the discount would only be applicable during the Eid holidays and not before.
The carriers increased RS100 to Rs 150 prices for various roads, notably Peshawar, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Jhang, Siackot, Bahawalpur, Mardan and Kohat. Although the railroad has reduced prices up to 20% for all trains, passengers complained to have been billed at 90 excess rupees. Rawalpindi’s rate in Lahore is RS1,140.
Rawalpindi’s trains in Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar are completely reserved, the passengers who find it difficult to guarantee seats. Those who could not find seats on buses went to the station. Travelers traffic is crowding the stations of Rawalpindi and Chaklala, especially for those who are heading for Karachi and Multan.
In addition, local transport, including buses and coaches, have been diverted to long routes due to Eid, which caused difficulties to people traveling in districts and neighboring areas.
