Ejaz offers a free trade agreement with us

Islamabad:

Former Federal Minister for the Kardian Trade Gohar Ejaz proposed that Pakistan and the United States are starting negotiations for a free trade agreement (ALE), which suggests that access to the open market and prices reductions would be mutually beneficial.

In a statement, Ejaz said Pakistan could authorize the franchise imports of American property rights as part of a larger trade agreement, while also looking for reductions in prices and taxes imposed on Pakistani exports in the United States.

Just a day before Ejaz’s declaration, Trump imposed a reference rate at 10% on almost all American imports and has enabled even higher rights to the main business partners – including a 29% tariff on Pakistani products. He accused Islamabad of slapped 58% of prices on American products.

The former Minister of the Guardian also noted that one of the main objections of Washington was the high price barriers that Pakistan maintains on American products. “The United States has always complained that Pakistan does not allow free access to its products in local markets,” he said.
