Islamabad:
Capital Development Authority (CDA) has increased the prices of electric buses in the federal capital. The increase in prices was officially implemented from Sunday.
According to sources, the rates of orange, green, blue and electric buses have been revised from Rs50 to Rs100. The decision was made for administrative and financial reasons.
About 90,000 passengers travel daily on these buses, said sources, adding that the ADC will soon introduce a new concession policy on tariffs in different categories.
Under the proposed policy, separate plans will be given to office employees, students and the elderly. The concessional plans offered will be for people traveling on a daily basis, weekly, bimonthly and monthly and for those who take bus cards.
Sources have also indicated that work was underway on the proposed concessional packages. The notification of the proposed concessional packages will be published soon. The authority has increased the price from RS50 to RS100, which will be updated under the daily, weekly, bimonthly and monthly packages.
The president of the CDA and chief commissioner of Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, ordered the relevant authorities to ensure that complete information, including the full calendar, arrival and departure hours, electric buses operating in the capital are available on Google Maps. This decision aims to help residents easily plan their home trips.
