The X account of the benchmark showed the video of the building rising in green.
“I’m sorry to have to do this,” reads the post. “Shining in @eagles Colors in honor of their victory in the NFC championship.”
The account said it was going to light up in the colors of anyone who also won the AFC championship, but it did not seem to have so much importance. The fans criticized the building for being illuminated in color to support the NFL team of Philadelphia, considering it as a betrayal for the city.

The Empire State Building showed support for the Eagles two years ago when the team beat the 49ers of San Francisco to go to the Super Bowl LVII. The building also turned on red for the chiefs when they won the AFC championship that year.
For what it’s worth, New York football teams have not had much to be happy for a very long time.
The Giants, after letting Barkley go to the free agency, finished the 2024 3-14 season. They have an appearance in the playoffs in the past eight seasons.
The New York Jets finished season 5-12. The jets have not been to the playoffs since the 2010 season.
