Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support in Pakistan, expressing his satisfaction on the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India.
Addressing a meeting of the cabinet, President Erdoğan described the agreement as a positive step towards regional stability and underlined the full support of Turkey for the peace initiative.
Erdoğan condemned recent terrorist attacks on cashmere and missile strikes on Pakistani territory, highlighting the continuous diplomatic efforts of Turkey to help defuse tensions between the two South Asian neighbors.
The Turkish chief praised the resilience and patience of the Pakistani people, crediting the country’s leadership for his measured and strategic response for a difficult period.
He also confirmed a recent telephone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which the two leaders discussed key bilateral and regional issues.
In his remarks, President Erdoğan urged Pakistan to avoid provocations and capitalize on the calm caused by the ceasefire to resolve long-standing disputes, including the question of water.
He concluded with a strong message of solidarity, assuring Islamabad that Turkey, to God, would be held in Pakistan in two stages and bad times.
