While less than six months have passed since the 2024 presidential election, the star of the sports media Stephen A. Smith already seems to wait 2028.
Smith, who recently signed a lucrative contract extension with ESPN, often plunges into political conversations on his podcast, “The Stephen A. Smith Show”.
During a February edition of his podcast, Smith addressed the idea of launching an offer for the president in a few years.

But in April, the longtime host of “First Take” suggested that recent events have prompted him to change course.

“It’s time to stop playing. Life is great. Especially in ESPN / Disney. I hate the idea of being a politician. But sick of this mess. I therefore leave all the doors open,” Smith wrote on April 7.

Chiney Ogwumike, who spent four seasons with the sparks of Los Angeles and is currently working in ESPN, has highlighted a specific competence that could work for the advantage of Smith if he is finally presented to a political position.
“I think he would be the first to say that he would not necessarily want to run, but let me tell you this: I hope he will make the scene of the debate,” said ESPN analyst at Front Office Sports. “I think he will hold more than his. He is no longer prepared for a presidential debate format than Stephen A., in my opinion.”

During the National Convention of the Association of Radio -Association in Las Vegas in early April, Smith clearly indicated that his decision to present himself to the functions would ultimately depend on the state of the nation in a year or two and if the data at the time would indicate that he had “a legitimate shot to win”.
“If this happens at the end of 2026, 2027, where I look at this country and that I think it is an absolute mess and there are legitimate reasons to believe – whether it is via exploratory committees or anything else – whether I have a legitimate shot to win the presidency of the United States. I will not exclude it, and I do not play.”
President Donald Trump recently called on Wednesday at the Newsnation City Hall while Smith appeared on the network. During the call, Trump expressed his support for a potential presidential offer from Smith, saying that the broadcaster is “a good guy”.
“Stephen A., he’s a good guy,” said Trump. “He’s an intelligent guy. I love to look at it. He has great entertainment skills, which is very important. People look at him.
“You know, many of these democrats that I look at, I say:” They have no chance. “I was good enough to choose people and pick candidates.
