Islamabad:
The EU will launch a program in Pakistan to train Pakistani work in the skills required for European markets, said a senior official, speaking on Wednesday on “ safe migration paths for aspirant Pakistani migrants.
“There is a shortage of skilled labor on European markets. To meet the needs of the European labor market, the EU is launching a skills development program for the technical skills of the Pakistani workforce,” said Philip Oliver Gross, deputy chief of the EU delegation in Pakistan.
He, reaffirming the commitment of the EU, to structure migration partnerships with Pakistan, said that migration, when it was managed correctly, benefits both migrants and host countries. Recognizing the challenge of the inadequacy of skills, he said that if Europe has labor shortages, most Pakistani migrants do not meet the required levels of competence.
He also said that the EU talent partnership program aims to align the training of Pakistani labor with European market demands. He said the EU allocated 20 million euros (2021-2027) to support vocational training, migration governance and reintegration programs.
