- EUFY FAMILOCK S3 Max has a contactless entry via the recognition of the palm
- It is coupled with a video doorbell with 2 km images and IA intruder detection
- The images can be stored either locally or in the cloud with a subscription
EUFY – The company behind some of the best video bells that we have tested here in Techradar – has published a new intelligent lock with palm recognition for contactless entry. The EUFY FAMILOCK S3 Max, which launched today, also has an external camera which offers a 2K wide angle video, as well as an integrated AI to alert you when a visitor approaches your door – welcome or not.
EUFY was one of the first companies to launch an intelligent lock with the recognition of PALM (the other big name being Philips with its Smart Lock of Palm Video Recognition of Palm), and it has several advantages compared to fingerprint scanners, which are a more common option for key entry.
Palm recognition works by detecting the unique model of blood vessels in your hand and comparing it with an authorized image database. In the case of Famlock S3 Max, this data is stored locally to protect it from potential security offenses. This means that it can be opened without physical contact, and its precision is not affected by skin conditions, perspiration or dirt.
Palm recognition also uses more data points than a fingerprint sensor or facial recognition, making it more precise and much more difficult to deceive.
Who is there?
Famlock S3 Max also works as a video doorbell, so there is no need for two separate devices. It has a 2K camera and a 140 -degree field of vision both vertically and horizon (the same as the video ring with high -end ring), offering you a head view to visitors, as well as packages left at your door.
You will receive an alert on your phone when someone rings, and Lock software includes a person detection that can let you know if someone floats on your property.
Video sequences can be saved in the cloud with a paid subscription, or locally with an encrypted external hard drive Eufy Homebase 3.
We are currently testing the EUFY FAMILOCK S3 Max to see how it compared to the best smart locks of other brands, and will soon bring you a complete exam. It is available to buy now directly from Eufy and Amazon for $ 399.99 (about £ 300 / $ 630 in).
