Exhibition and effective justice a moral responsibility: CJP

On Thursday, the chief judge of the Pakistani judge Yahya Afrida observed that timely and effective justice is not only a constitutional mandate but also moral responsibility.

The chief judge presided over the sixth session of revision of interactive progress at the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The session brought together senior officials, stakeholders and officers of the Supreme Court to assess monthly progress within the framework of the Reform Action Plan (RAP) and to provide strategic advice on pending initiatives and future stages.

The meeting was followed by the Supreme Court of the Registrar, the IT advisor Hamayun Zafar, heads of section of the Supreme Court, the principal director of the Federal Judicial Academy and the Secretary of the Commission of Law and Justice of Pakistan (LJCP).

During the deliberations, the chief judge was informed of substantial progress made in the trial reform program. Out of 89 initiatives identified, 30 have been fully implemented, 44 are underway and 14 should start shortly. These milestones underline the commitment of the judiciary to modernize its institutional framework and to strengthen the provision of services for the public.

The chief judge also examined statistics on the elimination of cases, categorization of cases, computer integration, financial management and audit mechanisms. He expressed his satisfaction that the rate of elimination of cases has exceeded the new case institution, stressing that audit and financial discipline are essential to ensure transparency. He ordered all the departments to perform staunch tasks before the next exam meeting, stressing that the advanced progress is crucial to maintain the public’s confidence in the judiciary.

By reaffirming the dedication of the Supreme Court to an approach focused on liters, the chief judge observed that justice in a timely and effective time is not only a constitutional mandate but also a moral responsibility.

He also congratulated the contributions of officers and technical experts. He reiterated the determination of the judiciary to promote innovation, inclusiveness and collaboration in the construction of a transparent, modern and fair judicial system.
