Islamabad:

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly on National Health Services has taken the exorbitant costs billed by private medical institutions in the country.

He ordered the Ministry of Health and Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to share their comments on the issue at the next Committee meeting.

The committee also urged the ministry to examine this policy to ensure a fair and transparent process for all students. He noted that he was going to make a decision on the issue soon.

The Committee also discussed the Thalassémie 2025 screening bill, which aims to warn thalassemia by rendering the tests before the two partners of Islamabad.

The committee recognized the serious implications for the health of children born with major thalassemia and agreed that the question should be addressed.

To advance legislation, written responses on the legal implications of this proposal will be sought from the Ministry of Law and the Ministry of Health.

The permanent committee meeting was chaired by MNA Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani. One of the main questions discussed was the problems in progress within Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC).

The chairman of the Committee expressed his concern that, despite more than 16 meetings to resolve the issues related to the PNMC, no significant progress had been made.

The minister promised that the ministry quickly took measures to resolve the issue and eliminate any misunderstanding around him. Concerns have also been raised concerning the accreditation of nursing colleges, in particular certain institutions which have been falsely certified.
