Experts urge preservation of safe meat

Health experts have advised citizens to adopt appropriate meat preservation methods, have the know-how to consume fresh meat to maintain their intact health and avoid the risk of saving it from heat and task.

The ritual of Sunnah Ibrahimi (RA) is interpreted on Eidul Azha by Muslims as a prerequisite for Hajj each year, which is considered to be the greatest sacrifice of Islam.

Talking to a private news channel, associate professor and gastroenterologist Dr Abdullah Bin Khalid from the University Hospital of Aga Khan recommended that citizens consume sacrificial meat in the form of steam or boiling, not in transformed form.

He said that the use of red meat in transformed form is not good for humans, adding that the World Health Organization (WHO) has already declared that consumption of red meat can cause many harmful effects on human health and the Cited American Cardiac Diseases department estimates that only 350 grams of meat per week can be consumed.

Dr. Abdullah has recommended various precautionary measures, that is to say the cutting of the meat of qurbani until the process of cooking such as 1) the meat should be eliminated with all fats, 2) Cook the meat in healthy oils, that is to say olive oil which is an extra virgin oil, canola oil or sunflower oil, etc. A high flame can be tasty but would be low in nutrition, 4) Cook the low -flame meat to keep its nutritional value, 5) Use meat with salads and chokes.

Answering a question, he said that patients with heart problems, angina and high cholesterol should use red meat in moderate quantities, adding that we do not advise them not to eat meat anyway.
