TURBAT/BALOUTHISTAN:
A bomb targeting the convoy of Deputy Commissioner Major (retd) Kech Bashir Barech in Turbat, Balochistan, injured eight people, including Levies Force, on Monday.
Kech Senior Superintendent of Police Captain (retd) Zohaib Mohsin said a remote-controlled device, mounted on a motorcycle, exploded as the convoy passed Press Club Road. The deputy commissioner remained unhurt, although a vehicle in the convoy was seriously damaged. Police and the Frontier Corps are investigating the attack.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital and police confirmed their condition is stable. Police officials said the explosive was placed on a motorcycle and detonated remotely. Security forces have cordoned off the area and are collecting evidence.
Balochistan has seen an increase in terrorist incidents, particularly against law enforcement and security forces, led by the ‘Fitna al-Hindustan’ group.
“Fitna al-Hindustan” is a term used by the state to refer to all terrorist groups operating in Balochistan – a designation meant to reflect the “true nature and ideology” of these Indian-sponsored elements and their “nefarious designs”.
