- Kape Technologies, owner of ExpressVPN, announced a wave of redundancies in the company VPN
- The total number of layoffs remains not confirmed
- This occurs weeks after major updates of his Wireguard protocol protocol, Lightway owner
ExpressVPN has announced a series of layoffs in an official declaration.
This is the second time that the company belonging to Kape Technologies has hosted its workforce in two years after losing 12% of its staff in July 2023.
According to Tom guideExpressVPN has not specified the number of jobs lost, so far, with the declaration by reading only that the company has made the “decision difficult to reduce the size of our workforce”.
The declaration does not mention any cut to private internet access (PIA) or Cyberghost – two VPNs also under the aegis of Kape.
ExpressVPN always advertises several job offers in engineering and security on the company’s website, as well as in marketing and accounting and finance. So, how important it is as signs of coming problems for this VPN service is difficult to assess.
Indeed, ExpressVPN recently published important updates of its VPN, Lightway protocol, alongside major updates of its Linux application earlier this month. The company also entered the ESIM market with the launch of Holiday.com in December.
There also seems to be many funds in marketing chests with ExpressVPN announcing a partnership with the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club as an official digital confidentiality partner in November.
ExpressVPN place the third in the best VPN guide in Techradar at the time of writing. He exceeded these graphics for several years until the beginning of 2024, when NordVPN was named best VPN.
ExpressVPN slipped later that year when Surfshark went up to the second row.
We are impatient to re -test ExpressVPN in the coming months to see how its Lightway protocol improved and if its attempt to be the fastest VPN of the block received a boost from Lightway Turbo.
