ISLAMABAD: The families of the two young women, who lost their lives after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Islamabad, have pardoned the suspect, bringing closure to the case.

This development came as both the families recorded their statements before Judicial Magistrate Shaista Khan Kundi.

The teenager, whose father is said to be associated with the judiciary, was sent to four-day judicial remand on December 2 after his car fatally hit a scooter carrying two women at Islamabad’s Secretariat Chowk on Shahrah-e-Dastoor.

Police said the car collided with the scooter, killing both women instantly. The driver was arrested immediately after the incident and later produced in court. The judge handed over the accused to the police for four days’ remand for further investigation.

During today’s proceedings, the court was informed that the parties had reached an agreement, after which the judge approved the suspect’s release on bail and ordered his release.

The brother of one of the victims appeared in court to record the family’s statement, while that of the mother was recorded online. The father of the second deceased girl also presented his statement in person.

The suspect was produced before the court at the end of his four-day pre-trial detention.
