The Pakistan superstar Fawad Khan is expected to return to Bollywood cinema as he plays in the next romantic film “ Abir Gulaal ” alongside the Indian starlet Vaani Kapoor.

The film was announced last year and the manufacturers gave fans an overview by abandoning a teaser on April 1.

“ Abir Gulaal ” should be released on May 9 and fans of the Pakistani Heartthrob burst out online excitation while listening to the teaser with Fawad and Vaani in a car listening and vibrating the emblematic song “Kucha Na Kaho” from “1942: A Love Story”.

Taking on his Instagram account, Vaani shared the teaser and subtitled it with: “The wait is over! Make love on the big screen with Abir Gulaal and @ Fawadkhan81. A richer lens film @archerlens. See you soon in cinemas on May 9!” And added a magic and heart emoji towards the end of the text.

Unfortunately, the dark clouds also hang on the fate of the film which is the first appearance of Fawad Bollywood since I put in “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” by Karan Johar in 2016.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), a regional party in Mumbai led by Raj Thackeray, firmly opposed the screening of the film in the Maharashtra.

MNS spokesperson Ameya Khopkar reacted strongly to the announcement of the film’s release date, warning that the party will not allow the film to be shown in the Maharashtra.

“The film Abir Gulal will not be allowed to go out in India, the end point. Those who wish to support Pakistani artists can do so, but remember, you are against us,” wrote the spokesperson on X.

Fawad was absent from Indian cinema due to an unofficial ban by Pakistani artists in India after the attack on URI 2016. Collaborations with Pakistani artists were discouraged by the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (ImpPa) because it adopted a resolution.

However, in 2023, the official ban was rejected by the High Court of Bombay after receiving a request requesting the official ban on Pakistani artists.
