The FBI has confirmed a new post linked to the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, who disappeared from her Arizona home last week.
Authorities said they were now carefully verifying the reports to see if they were real.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The FBI is offering $50,000 for tips that could help Nancy return home safely or arrest anyone involved in her disappearance.
Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is leading the investigation, said this week that people should remain hopeful.
“You have to have hope. Come on, she’s someone’s mother. We’re going to find her,” he said, holding back emotion during an interview.
Authorities are, however, looking into a ransom note demanding bitcoin, while a fake ransom note has already led to an arrest.
FBI Special Agent Heith Janke warned anyone who tried to take advantage of the situation that they would be held accountable.
Savannah Guthrie and her siblings, Annie and Camron, asked people to show evidence if they have any that claims Nancy is alive.
Savannah said her mother, 84, is in fragile health and needs medication to survive.
