The Federal Government has fulfilled another condition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and approved the creation of offices for the Director General of Special Measures and two administrators of the Federal Headquarters of the Revenue Council (FBR) for coordination with field training to combat tax evasion.
An official notification has been issued in this regard.
According to the FBR notification, the new management has been created to identify the defects of the country’s tax system, prevent poor failure and subinvolution, and develop a more integrated strategy to combat smuggling.
The notification has also mentioned that these measures will help to eliminate complexities which lead to a decrease in income and eliminate unnecessary obstacles in the tax collection process.
The director general of special measures will also be coordinated with ministries, divisions and other relevant institutions on customs related issues.
The notification indicated that by virtue of the new management, the director general and the administrators will ensure coordination with the field offices and the provincial authorities, identify the defects in income collection and will propose suggestions to resolve them.
Effective measures to put an end to the registration and the undeveloping will also be proposed.
In addition, management will help organize special training courses and workshops for Pakistan customs to raise awareness among customs and staff in terms of bad decomposition and subinvolution.
According to the notification, the entire process will be supervised by the Managing Director, who will fall under customs operations of the members.
Earlier, IMF communications director Julie Kozack said on Friday that Pakistan would receive $ 1.3 billion in climate funding.
Speaking at a press conference, Kozack stressed that discussions with Pakistan covered both the Extended Funds (EFF) and climate funding, Express News reported.
