Trailer after trailer gives fans chills as the famous killer Pennywise is on the hunt in IT: Welcome to Derry.
It is a prequel to the original film, as shown in the official Red Band trailer; the children are once again the monster’s prey.
The mastermind behind the series, Andy Muschietti, in a previous interview with Radio TUshared that the story will be “told backwards” in the three-season show.
“It’s a story based on the interludes in the book. The interludes are essentially chapters that reflect Mike Hanlon’s research,” he noted.
“These are fragments of his research. For 27 years, he’s the guy trying to understand what it is, what made it, who made it, who saw it, and all that,” added the filmmaker.
He continued: “So they talk about catastrophic events from the past, like the Black Spot fire… the massacre of the Bradley Gang, a gang of bank robbers in the 1930s… and the Kitchener steel plant explosion.”
“Every time [Pennywise] comes out of hibernation, a catastrophic event occurs at the start of this cycle. ยป
“There’s a reason the story is told backwards. So the first season is from 1962, the second season is from 1935, and the third season is from 1908,” Andy explained.
IT: Welcome to Derry will be released on HBO Max on October 26.
