The accountability process is underway at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Director General Rifat Mukhtar Raja has ordered departmental sanctions to be imposed on 10 officials involved in cases of corruption, breach of discipline and abuse of authority.
According to details, the Director General reviewed cases of complaints against staff at the FIA headquarters and took departmental action against officials involved in cases of breach of discipline, corruption and abuse of authority during the case-by-case hearing. In total, 10 officers and civil servants will be sanctioned.
Inspector Muhammad Iqbal was demoted to sub-inspector for 1 year for not checking driving license while recruiting a police driver. Technical assistant Nazish Akmal was fired for absenteeism. Inspector Asad Iftikhar Awan was sentenced to 2 pay scale reductions for 2 years. Officer Kamran Saleem was dismissed from duty. Police Chief Muhammad Ali was suspended for a year for truancy.
Officers Muhammad Hamza and Muhammad Waqar were suspended for 3 and 1 year respectively for absenteeism during training at the National Roads and Motorways Police Training School in Sheikhupura. While Head Constable Muhammad Adnan, ASI Asim Gulzar, Head Constable Shoaib Muhammad Khan, Constable Inder Kumar, Constable Rubia Sajid and Constable Tahir Hussain received warnings for absenteeism from work and training.
DG Raja said the purpose of departmental accountability is to ensure strict compliance with legal and professional standards.
