Karachi:
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested 22 people trying to illegally cross Iran via the Oman Sea.
According to a spokesperson for FIA Composite Circle, Gwadar, the arrests were carried out during the operations carried out in the coastal areas of Jiwani and Gabd (PB-25) of Balutchistan on Monday. The suspects were intercepted while they were trying to leave Pakistan by unauthorized sea routes.
Initial surveys revealed that individuals had planned to illegally enter Iran, with the ultimate goal of reaching other foreign destinations through human smuggling networks.
The arrested individuals come from various parts of Pakistan, with 13 from Punjab, 7 of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and two from the Sindh. “The 22 suspects were reserved under relevant laws and official surveys were launched,” confirmed the FIA spokesman.
The agency has reiterated its commitment to slow down the trafficking in human beings and urged citizens not to be practical to the false promises of illegal immigration agents, warning that such trips often put lives at serious risks.
The Pakistan coastal belt, especially in Balutchistan, has long been a key transit point used by human smuggling unions, despite the repeated repression of law enforcement organizations.
