FIA takes action against seven executives for corruption

Sanctions include forfeiture of service, promotion bans of up to two years, and demotion.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has imposed departmental sanctions on seven officers and officials for corruption, abuse of authority and negligence. The sanctions were announced by FIA Director General Riffat Mukhtar Raja after personal hearings held in a control room.

As part of the disciplinary measures, three officers and civil servants were dismissed from their posts, while four others were given sanctions, including confiscation of their positions and cessation of their promotion.

According to officials, a control room was convened under the chairmanship of FIA DG Raja, during which cases against officers and officials involved in corruption, abuse of office and negligence were heard and departmental action orders were issued. In total, seven officers and civil servants were sanctioned.

Inspector Fakhar Abbas and Constable Ghulam Mustafa were removed from service for carrying out illegal raid and extortion operations, while ASI Ahsan Muskeen was removed from service for allegedly taking money from a passenger at Sialkot airport.

Meanwhile, Inspector Fahad Iqbal, posted at the new Islamabad International Airport, was given a two-year promotion ban for allowing illegal immigration. Sub-inspector Kiran Fareed was given a one-year promotion ban for a similar offence, while sub-inspector Waseem Ubaid, posted at Sialkot airport, was given a two-year promotion ban for allowing illegal immigration.

Similarly, sub-inspector Tanzil Rasool was demoted to the rank of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and given a two-year demotion sentence for allowing illegal immigration at Karachi airport.

Speaking on the occasion, the FIA ​​DG said that the objective of departmental accountability is to ensure strict compliance with legal and professional standards. He said corruption or abuse of authority would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
