The Basketball star of the Tahaad Pettiford college was imprisoned in Alabama in the early hours morning on Saturday, according to prison files.
The Auburn basketball goalkeeper was finally released from the guard on the same day, ESPN reported. Saturday afternoon, the name of Pettiford was no longer on the list of prisoners in the prison newspaper.
Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl recognized the serious nature of Pettiford’s circumstances.

“We are aware of the situation and we will manage it internally with Tahaad and his family,” Pearl said in a statement in ESPN. “We take these questions seriously and will learn and grow from the future.”
Pettiford’s legal problems occurred shortly after having decided to withdraw its name from the NBA draft. The 19 -year -old goalkeeper collected an average of 11.6 points per game during his first productive first year season.

Pettiford said he had made the decision to return to the ranks of university basketball because he presented him with a more ideal situation at the time.

“I was happy to go through the process, obtaining comments from the NBA teams,” Pettiford told ESPN shortly after having removed the draft.
“Returning to Auburn is a better situation for me. I see myself being a higher choice next year. It was not 100% this year, so I didn’t want to take this chance.”

Pettiford was a key element of the Tigers team which obtained the overall seeded of the male basketball tournament in this year’s NCAA division I. The Auburn March Madness Run ended when they suffered a 79-73 defeat against their Florida rival in Final Four.
Pettiford collected an average of 15.2 points per game during the NCAA tournament.
He is largely considered to be the next player of the ship of the next chapter of the Tigers after Johni Broome, the player of the year of the dry for 2024-25, made the jump to the NBA. The Philadelphia 76ers selected Broome in the second round of the draft last month.
