- Instagram for the iPad is now available
- It arrives 15 years after the launch of the original iPhone application
- The application includes a new next tab
This is one of the strangest anomalies of technology for several years, the absence of an official Instagram application for the iPad, but Meta engineers have finally found the time to correct this evil: Instagram for the iPad is available now.
If you have one of Apple’s tablets, you can now set up and enjoy the Instagram flows, stories and coils on a larger screen. The coils will be what will appear first, because Instagram believes that these are perfect for Lean Back entertainment (and also because … Tiktok).
“People asked for this for a while,” said the advertisement blog with an impassive face. “We have taken the time to design an experience that optimizes your favorite Instagram parties for a larger screen.”
Instagram for iOS made its debut in October 2010 and requests for an iPad application started almost immediately. While applications have gradually appeared for Android, the web and even Windows Mobile over the years, requests for an iPad application have been politely failed.
A new next tab
You get a full suite of features to create new content in the iPad application, just as you do in the iPhone equivalent. You can also access your Instagram reception box (with the list of conversations and cats themselves side by side) and your activity and notification flows.
There is a new screen here, called next. He has three tabs: all (articles of accounts you follow), friends (articles of people you follow and that follow you) and the most recent (articles of accounts that you follow, in chronological order).
It will be interesting to see if this tab is making its way in other Instagram applications: according to the announcement, it has been introduced in response to “requests for means that are easier to make sure that you do not lack updating your favorite accounts”.
Based on a quick look at the application, it seems to do a decent job to use the additional screen space. You should find the Instagram app for iPad available now in Apple Store Apple, and it can be downloaded for any tablet running iPados 15.1 or subsequent version.
