KARACHI:
A fire broke out at the Imtiaz private supermarket on Zamzama Street in the Clifton area on Monday, causing panic in the surrounding area as firefighters rushed to the scene.
According to firefighters, six firefighters are currently mobilized to bring the fire under control. However, dense smoke and darkness in the basement hampered rescue and firefighting operations.
Emergency sources said doors were opened using cutters to gain access to the basement, in a bid to reach people who may be trapped inside and bring the fire under control. Rescue officials add that rescue operations can take around 2 hours.
This is a developing story and will be updated as details emerge.
