Security forces shot dead five Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists during an operation in Kohlu district of Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
In a statement, the military’s media wing said an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was carried out in the area on December 25 following the reported presence of terrorists.
“During the operation, our forces effectively attacked the terrorists’ position and after an intense exchange of fire, five Indian-sponsored terrorists were sent to hell,” the statement read.
Security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from the terrorists, who remained actively involved in many terrorist activities in the region.
A disinfection operation was carried out after the exchange of fire to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorists found in the area.
The ISPR said that the relentless anti-terrorism campaign being carried out under the vision of ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ by the security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue in full swing to eliminate the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
The operation took place just a day after security forces neutralized eight terrorists in Kalat district of Balochistan.
The ISPR said the forces killed the terrorists during an IBO conducted on December 24 over the reported presence of Indian-sponsored terrorists in the area.
Pakistan has seen a notable increase in terrorist attacks, particularly in the border provinces of KP and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban regime took power in neighboring Afghanistan in 2021.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul to prevent terrorist groups from using Afghan soil to carry out attacks in Pakistan.
Cross-border terrorism emanating from Afghanistan also led to week-long clashes between the two countries in October.
Earlier this month, Islamabad launched a demarche to the Afghan Taliban regime, expressing serious concern over the continued support and facilitation provided to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Afghan Deputy Chief of Mission on December 19 after four soldiers embraced martyrdom in a terror attack in North Waziristan of KP.
Pakistan said the Afghan Taliban regime’s continued support for terrorist groups had enabled them to carry out attacks against the Pakistani army and civilian population along the Pak-Afghan border and adjacent areas.
FO also informed the Kabul envoy that Pakistan reserved the right to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens, and would take all necessary measures to respond to terrorism originating from Afghan soil.
