KHYBER: At least five people were killed after a car collided with a truck near Bab-e-Khyber, emergency services said on Sunday.
The accident took place on the main road of Khyber district when the car, which was traveling at high speed, rammed into the oncoming truck. The impact was so violent that the car was seriously damaged, killing five people, emergency services said.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene soon after receiving information about the accident. The five injured died on the spot from serious injuries. Their bodies were then transferred to a nearby hospital for forensic formalities, authorities said.
According to emergency services, speeding appears to be the cause of the accident.
The accident occurred three days after an accident in Chakwal district that claimed the lives of five passengers of a bus.
The accident took place in Dhok Pathan area of Chakwal district on Wednesday, where a passenger bus plunged into a ravine.
Accidents are not uncommon in Pakistan and occur frequently due to various reasons including driver negligence, road conditions and weather intensity etc.
In a similar accident in December 2025, at least 11 people were killed after a bus overturned on the M-14 highway near Fateh Jang.
The victims were from Bahawalpur, Vehari, Sharaqpur and Islamabad, rescue officials added.
