Five people, including a woman and children, fell into an open drain in Karachi’s Korangi area on Sunday, officials said. All five were pulled from the sewers and three of them were rescued in an unconscious state and transferred to hospital.
According to rescue authorities, the incident took place in Mehran town, Korangi, as the group was returning from an activity when they fell into an uncovered sewer pipe.
Rescue officials said efforts began shortly after receiving reports of the incident. They added that the cover of the drainage canal was broken in one place and the victims fell through the damaged section.
In another incident on December 30, eight-year-old Dilbar Ali died after falling into a drain in Mehran town, Sector 6-G of Korangi Industrial Area.
