Islamabad:
The Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Economic Affairs was informed Thursday that Pakistan was the first country to sign a 10 -year executive with the World Bank, for which the government has identified five sectors in which working.
The meeting discussed the house reconstruction plan in the areas affected by the floods and the registration of NGOs in the country.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs informed the Committee that 10,000 houses would be completed for people affected by floods before June 30. Ministry officials said the list of people affected and the investigation had been transparently prepared with army aid and other agencies.
Akhtar Bibi, a member of the committee, expressed reservations that the list included people who were not affected by the floods. Officials said the list of 284,000 people affected was prepared for the construction of houses. The list was made with the greatest transparency after the investigation, they added.
The Economic Affairs Secretary told the Committee that the previous executive with the World Bank ended in 2021 and that now the lender based in Washington had been invited to make a manager for 10 years. “We have informed the World Bank of the five sectors in which we will work,” he said.
“Pakistan is the first country with which the World Bank has completed a 10-year national partnership manager. In fact, this is a program of $ 40 billion. IFC will also give $ 20 billion in 10 years, he said.”
