- GL.INET FLINT 3 is a powerful Wi-Fi 7 router with 2.5 GBE ports at an early price
- Supports OpenWRT, VPNS and MESH with a large compatibility of the plugins
- This is the follow-up of The Slate 7, the first mobile Wi-Fi 7 router in the world
The GL.INET FLINT 3 (GL-BE9300) can be the cheapest Wi-Fi 7 Be9300 router currently available, and with four PORTS LAN 2.5GBE Plus VPN, it could be obvious for buyers who seek to take advantage of Wi-Fi 7 speeds with a budget.
The tri-band router, designed for home users and small offices, is available for pre-order now. Buyers of the super first birds had the chance to catch it for only $ 119, but this level quickly sold. Early pricing is set at $ 139, while the standard pre -order price is $ 159. The PDSF is listed at $ 229.90, orders that should be shipped in mid-July 2025.
The Flint 3 is based on Slate 7 more compact GL.inet, which the company launched a few months ago at a price of $ 120.
Solid VPN performance
The Flint 3 is powered by a Qualcomm Quad-Core processor at 1.5 GHz, probably the IPQ5332, and associated with 1 GB of RAM DDR4 and 8 GB of EMMC storage.
He performs a personalized version of OpenWRT 23.05 (Linux 5.4.213) and includes the administration panel of GL.inet v4.7. The operating system supports more than 5,000 plug-ins, with integrated tools for confidentiality, tunneling and advertising blocking.
On the networking side, the Flint 3 is equipped with five Ethernet ports of 2.5 Gbit / s, one for Wan, one Wan / Lan and three dedicated LAN ports. These support the aggregation of links up to 10 Gbit / s.
It supports WiFi 7 on 2.4 GHz bands (688 Mbps), 5 GHz (2882 Mbps) and 6 GHz (5765 Mbps), and includes four foldable external antennas. A USB 3.0 port allows the smartphone attachment or use with a cellular dongle.
Router VPN performance is assessed up to 680 Mbps on Wireguard and OpenVPN-DCO. This is slightly lower than the 900 Mbps observed on the old flint 2, but always solid for encrypted traffic.
It also includes features such as Adguard Home, tilting support, load balancing and network network. The power is provided via a CC 12V / 4A input and the power print is listed as less than 25 W under a normal load.
Compared to the more expensive Be9300 routers on the market, early prices and the material mixture of Flint 3 make it a show. Competition with routers at similar prices such as TP-Link Archer Be550 can be difficult in the middle of PDSF, but right now, it’s among the best WiFi 7 offers.
