Punjab, the province of disaster management (PDMA), said Thursday that rivers flows across the province are returning to normal, with only low to medium level floods reported in a few places.
According to the spokesperson for the PDMA, the water levels were calmed significantly in the areas affected by the floods, while the Indus, Jhelum, Ravi and Chenab rivers are now flowing at normal levels. Flows at the heads of Punjnad have also normalized.
However, moderate floods persist in the Sutlej river in Ganda Singh Wala, while low -level floods were recorded in Sulelani and Islam Headworks. The PDMA confirmed that the Torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan hill are also flowing at normal levels.
The PDMA DG said that the provincial administration remains on alert under the directives of the chief, the rescue operations continuing in the affected areas. Citizens were advised to contact the emergency line 1129 in the event of a crisis.
Meanwhile, the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) warned a potential increase in rivers in the next two days due to rain forecasts. Thunderstorms with dispersed precipitation is expected in the divisions of Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala and Lahore, while the Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Sargodha, Faithbad and Zhob divisions can also receive intermittent showers.
Strong entries were reported in the Sindh dams. GUDDU is currently attending an average level discharge of 500,000 Cuses, SUKKUR is faced with high flood levels with 571,000 brackets, while Kotri knows medium level flows but remains at risk of potential floods.
Neoc warned that heavy rains can trigger dangerous overvoltages in hill torrents and mountain streams. Citizens were invited to avoid crossing the roads, bridges and floods flooded during the high current.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said that it closely monitored the situation and ordered all the departments concerned to take preventive measures. Residents of the areas subject to floods were invited to stay up to date through official alerts and the alert application in the event of a disaster of the authority.
