Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather says he is coming out of retirement after nine years away from the sport and will make his return this summer.
He returns to the ring for a match as part of a promotional deal with CSI Sports/Fight Sports.

“I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather said in a statement. “From my next Mike Tyson event to my next professional fight after that, no one will generate a bigger gate, have a bigger global broadcast audience and generate more money with every event (than) my events.”
The undefeated Mayweather, who turns 49 on Tuesday, has not fought in a real match since 2017 against Conor McGregor. Mayweather declared himself retired after this match with a 50-0 record and 27 knockouts.

The former five-division world champion is still a regular presence in the ring throughout his quarantine with a string of lucrative exhibition bouts against the likes of online influencer Logan Paul, YouTuber Mikuri Asakura and John Gotti III, the grandson of the infamous mob boss.
Mayweather has already announced another spring exhibition against Mike Tyson, 59, although no location or television partner has been confirmed.

Mayweather spent more than a decade as America’s biggest boxing star, and he beat Manny Pacquiao in 2015 in the richest fight in boxing history at the time. His superb defensive skills and quick hands were his strengths, but his fame and wealth proliferated largely thanks to his antihero persona “Money May.”

Now he will do it again as he approaches the age of 50 and puts his unbeaten record on the line.
