FO reaffirms links with Russia and Ukraine, calls for a peaceful resolution to conflicts

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the country’s commitment to promote peace in Ukraine, highlighting its strong and friendly relations with Russia and Ukraine.

At a press conference Thursday, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, underlined the continuous negative impact of the conflict on developing countries, including Pakistan.

“Pakistan has also been negatively affected by this tragic conflict,” he said, stressing the importance of peace efforts to resolve the war. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for any initiative which promotes peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Regarding a recent security development, Khan addressed the arrest of Shareefullah, a better operational commander of the Islamic State of Khorasan province (ISKP), and his subsequent transfer in the United States. He noted that intelligence cooperation between Pakistan and the United States has long been.

“The efforts of the organizations of the application of Pakistani laws against terrorists, including the Islamic State of the province of Khorasan, have led to important successes,” said Khan. He added that Pakistan had collaborated with the United States by putting Shareefullah back in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

Khan stressed that these actions demonstrate the unshakable policy of Pakistan of zero tolerance against terrorism. “Intelligence cooperation is underway, and it is not only the first time that this type of activity has occurred,” he said.
