On Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the statements made by the Indian media on Friday that the country had closed the Wagah border to Pakistani citizens returning from India, in the midst of degenerate tensions between the two nations.
The declaration came in response to reports from the Indian media alleging that Pakistan had “refused” to open the border of Wagah, leaving several Pakistani nationals blocked in the area between the control points Attari and Wagah.
“Many fragile health patients had to return to Pakistan without completing their treatment.
The ministry said that the border crossing of Wagah-Attari has remained operational until April 30, and Pakistan remains willing to receive its citizens as long as the Indian authorities allow them to cross.
“The Wagah border will remain open to Pakistani citizens in the future as well,” he added.
Tensions increased between two countries following a deadly attack on April 22 in the Pahalgam region, the Indians illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (iiojk), which killed 26 people, most of them.
India alluded to cross -border links with the attack but did not provide evidence. Pakistan strongly denied participation and called for an independent investigation.
After the incident, India revoked the visas for Pakistani nationals and ordered them to leave the country by April 29.
Previously, the Pakistani Minister of Health has promised a treatment funded by the government for two young heart patients who have been forced to return from India without medical care due to the climbing of tensions between the two countries.
The Federal Minister of Health Mustafa Kamal ordered the Director General of Health to immediately contact the family of the two girls. He said arrangements were made to start their treatment in Pakistan at the expense of the government.
Kamal also confirmed that he had contacted the Prime Minister’s office and that the Ministry of Health had started to coordinate with various hospitals. Girls can be referred to the Institute of Cardiology of the Armed Forces (AFIC), he added.
