FO resulting from clarification on the presence of Shama Junejo in Unga

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues a declaration clarifying the role of Dr. Shama Junejo after the counterposer on his presence in the delegation of the United Nations General Assembly in Pakistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO) specified that “the individual in question was not listed in the letter of official credibility for the Pakistani delegation to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (Unga), signed by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Shama Junejo was accused by individuals of being a supporter of Zionism and Israel, on the basis of her previous articles on X, where she expressed her respect for the Israeli president Benjamin Netanyahu.

The former federal ministers Shireen Mazari and Fawad Chaudhry called the Government of Pakistan and the Minister of Defense Khawaja Asif, who was seated, for having allowed a supporter of Israel to be authorized to be part of the Pakistani delegation.

The Minister of Defense, Khawaja Asif, who was a vocal supporter of the Palestinian cause, called the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an article on X, demanding answers to the way this individual was authorized to be there: “Who is this woman? Why is she with us in the delegation? And why was she sitting behind me? Only Foreign Office can answer these questions.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded with a declaration, clearly indicating that Shama Junejo was not an official part of the Pakistani delegation and that his seats did not have the approval of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar. We still do not know who authorized the layout of the seats.
