- Bathys Focal MG are high -end old headphones
- New magnesium pilots and best improved ANC microphones

How to make some of the best over-ear headphones even better? If you are focal, you give them an upgrade of the metal. The new MG focal bathys are the follow -up of the focal bathys and have new magnesium membrane drivers which, according to Focal, offer significant audio improvement, and you can get a pair on your head from April 2025.
This is not the first time that Focal has used magnesium in its headphones. The MG Focal Claire does it too, and we have described their audio as “breathtaking”. They were also quite expensive and the new Bathys MG are too.
Focal Bathys MG: Key characteristics and price
In addition to the new magnesium membrane, Bathys MG also have new digital microphones to improve the performance of the ANC. This is good, because one of the few criticisms that we had in our Bathys focal review was that their ANC was not in class despite the premium price.
Other changes in the MG model are more subtle: there is a new foam in the earrings and in the headband to improve comfort.
Like the existing version, you can use the Bathys MG in three modes, USB-C DAC, wireless and wireless. In these modes, you can expect up to 42 hours, 35 hours and 30 hours of listening time respectively. As before, USB-DAC mode offers you 24-bit / 192 kHz audio.
There is no doubt that these headphones will seem incredible, but they come with a significantly higher price. When the normal Bathys were launched at $ 799 / £ 699 / $ 1,199 in (but are now regularly available for less), Bathys MG have a retail price of $ 1299 / £ 999 £ / $ 2,300 in.
They are released in April, but Focal did not provide a specific date.
