There is no shortage of tiny digital microphones designed for content creators on the market, and Insta360 has just entered the fray with its very first wireless microphone: the micro air insta360.
The micro air transmitter (or TX) is a part -sized disc which can be cut in a necklace, fixed on a shirt with magnetic pliers or even worn as a pendant. It is supplied with a windshield to help reduce unwanted external noise, as well as integrated noise reduction technology. It offers a 10 -hour battery life and a 300 m wireless range.
Here is what is really treated – the microphone air supports the audio of 48 kHz / 24 bits via a direct wireless connection with two of the Insta360 action cameras: the Insta360 X5 and Insta360 ACE Pro 2. A direct wireless connection between the transmitter deletes with the need for a receiver (RX), and something that the DJI microphone can do with DJI products.
If you mix brands, however, you lose this direct wireless connectivity and need a receiver instead. As such, it is quite logical to match your action cam and your wireless microphone, so if you are an X5 or Ace Pro 2 user, the new micro air is the most logical. Other Air Mic compatible models will soon follow, according to Insta360.
Micro air can also be purchased in an RX (receiver) and TX (transmitter) pack. The RX unit can be connected to smartphones, to Insta360 flow gimbals and other devices, widening the range of compatible equipment.
Already available on order
Designed to compete with the tastes of the DJI Micri Mini, Rode Wireless Micro and Boya Mini, the Air Mic Insta360 is compact, light (the TX transmitter being only 7.9 g) and affordable: it is now available at Amazon US at $ 116.99 for the RX and TX bundle, and for the same price in the Insta360 store.
This is almost the same thing as the DJI Micri -Bundles equivalent, although Intelli Insta360 has decided not to sell a more complete package, such as two TX units, an RX and a charge case pack – at least for the moment. These all-in-one packages, such as you can buy Mici Mini from DJI, offer much more battery life thanks to the charging case, plus a second TX for audio capture for two people. Apparently, these are two areas where Insta360 is clearly happy to concede the soil to rivals like Dji and Rode.
Although the microphone air is a fairly simple and even obvious addition to the range of Insta360 products, it is also a sign that the company’s ambitions seem to grow. Just as the DJI was once known mainly for its drones, but now also makes action cameras, cardanals, microphones, power plants, electric bikes and even, apparently, a robot vacuum cleaner, Insta360 gradually increases and diversifies its range.
It also means that Insta360 X5 (and Ace Pro 2) users looking for a wireless microphone to level their audio can stay on the brand, rather than associating the 360 camera with a micro of a rival brand, like DJI, which looks like an obvious movement on the insta360. In fact, the microphone will be available with the X5 in a pack of ultimate creators, for $ 669 / £ 669 (Australia Price TBC).
A micro air examination sample has been on the way to us from Insta360, so soon search for a complete and in -depth review. We look forward to seeing how it aligns against the DJI Micri Mini, which is widely considered the current market leader for ultra-compact affordable microphones.
