- Meta has just announced that he joins Oakley on something new
- These are most likely long -term Oakley intelligent glasses
- We will know more on June 20
Oakley and Meta officially join for something – I mean, they are smart glasses, right? – And we will discover everything in a few days on June 20, 2025.
The CTO of Meta, Andrew Bosworth, went to social networks to share an explosive promotional video featuring the Meta and Oakley logos.
This announcement was long to come. We heard for the first time that Meta developed Oakley versions of her Smart Ray-Ban glasses in January, and that makes sense.
Ray-Ban intelligent glasses are among the most popular gadgets in Meta, and like another Essilorluxotica brand, Oakley, is also in the view of a view to try to take the action of smart glasses.
What is strange, however, is that Meta does not make this revelation at Meta Connect in September, as would normally do. Instead, according to the Oakley website, “the next development arrives on June 20.”
As for what this evolution might look like, depending on the leaks, the specifications of Oakley will be based on his sphaera glasses. The specifications of the glasses would be apparently similar to the current model of the shelves (that is, a camera, without screen), but would move the camera to the center of the glasses frame and include features to use cyclists and athletes.
Now, technically, Meta has not specifically said that we get smart Oakley glasses, but given the previous leaks and that Oakley is a brand of glasses, that’s anything but, that’s really what we get.
Bring the fight to Android XR
It may have always been the plan, but given how unusual timing is, I can’t help thinking that it is a reaction to the recent google Android XR beginnings.
Five brands work with Google to make Android XR glasses, including Samsung, Xreal and Gentle Monster. However, so far, Meta has had only one partner.
Although Meta is barely on the back, her key advantage is that her glasses are not only already available but also dominate the space of smart glasses. And by launching its Oakley specifications as soon as possible, Meta does not give Android XR time to breathe.
We do not expect the first Android XR specifications before 2026, which could cause problems for the new XR operating system if the space is already saturated with large meta-specials.
Another advantage of the launch is now that it gives Meta the other Smart Glasses Smart Gernes Space to own Meta Connect.
It is, of course, his smart glasses disclosed that will include a screen. Depending on the rumors, you will be able to see applications and notifications with a system that seems identical to everything Google has announced for its AR glasses.
Again, while Google was the first to present new generation consumption consumption specifications, META should be the first consumer company to launch a pair, with this announcement always defined for Meta Connect 2025.
We will have to wait and see what Meta announces on June 20 and in September, but his smart glasses Ray-Ban continue to be one of my favorite gadgets of the last two years, and I am delighted that he finally gets material updates.
